Born in 1915 in Kanazawa, Hasuda Shugoro was appointed Bunka Korosha (Member of the Order of Cultural Merit) in 1987. Shugoro stands as one of the leading modernist artists working in bronze during post-war period in Japan and is probably the most noticeable, internationally acclaimed metal artist. His works can be seen in many museums, including the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art.
