This is the Sloucher chair made in the 1960's. Leather has been restored. Made of Cocobolo Rosewood. Don S. Shoemaker (1919 - 1990) was born in Nebraska and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He first came to Mexico in the late 40's during his honeymoon. He liked the country so much he decided to move to the city of Morelia, in the state of Michoacán. In the late 50's, Shoemaker opened his furniture workshop, Señal, S.A., where he produced a wide range of pieces from dining set and lounge chairs to small trails and office accesories. He was able to produce products for both Mexican and American markets, where wealthy families would use them to give a final touch to their spaces.
